FOR THE WEEKS ENDING 29 November 2003:

First, we apologize for the lengthy delay between updates. With a wedding in the family, travel, deadlines, and other real-world duties, Phil has had almost no time since the beginning of the summer to update the Web site. He hopes to be able to devote more time to it in December. He has, however, made two major updates that improve the usefulness of greatly:

  1. Phil fixed the Scripture indexes so that they are ordered properly. This had to be done manually, so if you spot any mistakes, please e-mail us with corrections.
  2. We have completed nearly all of The Treasury of David. There is one major section still needing to be formatted: Psalm 119 (which fills nearly a full volume in the original set) still needs to be formatted. For the time being, we have a link to Bibleclassics.com, which includes most of the commentary on Psalm 119.

Storm damage at Wm. JewellBreaking News
This year's Spurgeon Pastor's Conference at William Jewell College has been cancelled. A tornado did a lot of damage to several of their buildings. Thankfully, the Spurgeon book collection was not touched. Some water got in on the floor above it and soiled a few modern reference books in the school library. You can view a number of photos of the campus destruction at the William Jewell College web site. According to Gary Long, it is probable that no future conferences will be planned.

"All the world is nothing but a hog that is not worth the shearing."
  2. Interviews with Three of the King's Captains
"Poor pieces of common clay are all these men by nature; their luster and excellence are entirely due to their common Lord, who counts them all his own blood-bought jewels. We delight in them as his workmanship, and feel it to be right to admire his grace in them."
  3. The Mule

  8. Straining at Gnats
"Modern ritualists breathe the same spirit as their Jewish predecessors; but . . ."
  9. Twenty-five Years Ago
"At sight of Park Street Chapel we felt for a moment amazed at our own temerity, for it seemed to our eyes to be a large, ornate, and imposing structure, suggesting an audience wealthy and critical, and far removed from the humble folk to whom our ministry had been sweetness and light."
