The Puritans
"Preach the word;
be instant in season,
out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering
and doctrine"
(2 Timothy 4:2).

he Puritans were English Reformers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They were frustrated by the slow progress of the Reformation in the Anglican Church. They left a legacy of theological writing that is unsurpassed in church history. Their doctrine tended to be Calvinistic and Presbyterian, and their finest writings were both polemic and devotional treatments of theology.

The Still Waters Revival Collection

Here you'll find a generous selection of articles and tracts from the Reformers and Puritans. This is the best source I have found on the Web for writings from John Knox. The modern controversial works featured here are not so helpful, but if you can separate the gold from the dross, there are some fine, and rare, Puritan works at the Still Waters site.

A Puritan's Mind

This site features Puritan bios, Puritan writings, Puritan Creeds—plus articles on theological issues, T-shirts, and more. There's material from Turretin, Ames, and Christopher Love—all quite good.
